Per un architetto il viaggio è una impareggiabile occasione di studio, poiché permette di compiere una reale esperienza dello spazio, consente di valutare con i propri sensi ciò che altrimenti sarebbe sempre mediato dal disegno, dalla fotografia, dai testi o da altre rappresentazioni. La visita ad alcune architetture di Álvaro Siza, diviene occasione per una analisi critica e consente di estrarre alcune lezioni sul rapporto con i luoghi, sui caratteri dello spazio, sulla materialità, sull’impiego della luce, sul valore del dettaglio.

Based on recent studies on materiality, picturebook research, and cognitive studies, this paper investigates how children may perceive picturebooks as objects and their material properties. In this regard, we emphasise three dimensions of picturebooks as objects and relate them to developmental stages. The first dimension concerns the materials the picturebooks are composed of, such as paper, cardboard, wood, plastics, and cloth. The second dimension refers to the type of book, e.g. hardbacks, sets of cardboard sheets, fanfold books, pop-up books, and even hybrid objects such as books which are toys at the same time. Im Beitrag wird Gérard Granels "introduction“ zu seiner "traduction" von Heideggers "Was heißt Denken?" vorgestellt, die Ende der Fünfzigerjahre in Zusammenarbeit mit dem deutschen Aloys Becker entstand und 1959 erstmalig bei den Presses Universitaires de France erschien. Dieser sprachlich und gedanklich bemerkenswert dichte Übersetzungskommentar Granels ist im Hinblick auf die Frage nach dem Verhältnis von Theorie und Praxis des Übersetzens, die als Frage nach der Möglichkeit einer Überwindung gestellt wird, umso aufschlussreicher, als bereits die heideggersche Vorlage wesentlich um den Zusammenhang von Denken und Übersetzen, Sprachmaterialität und Sinnschöpfung kreist.

In recent years, the development of additive construction methods for the production of physical models starting from computerized ones has led to a return from the digital domain to the material one. A new "digital materiality" associated with 3D printing makes it possible to extend the imaginary of the contemporary architectural scene by consolidating the strong relationship between research and innovation. 3D printing is a rapid prototyping technique that allows the direct transposition of the digital model into its analogous material using a computer controlled nozzle to deposit small doses of material and compose the figure in space.

This study reviews research publications topically related to day centres for people with mental health problems. The purposes are to give a general overview of the evidence-based knowledge in the field, to detect gaps of knowledge, and to throw light on the following research questions: (1) Which ideologies about day centres may be revealed in Scandinavian- and English-speaking research on day centres for people with mental health problems; and (2) What significance do the day centres have for the users?Both questions are answered by examining 34 research publications, printed in either Scandinavian or English languages during the period 1962-2015.
